Apple Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion Gold Master lands for devs
The new operating system, offering the greatest from iOS to desktop users, could be here in the next few months
Apple has just announced the developer version of its new operating system, Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion Gold Master, is out now. That means the full release should be hot on its heels.
The big news comes shortly after Microsoft announced its developer version of Windows 8 will land in August for a general October release. Apple seems to be aiming to beat that with its new iOS feature-filled operating system.
Mountain Lion will bring Siri style dictation to MacBooks, iMacs, and Mac Pros as well as Messages, Notes and Reminders for seamless mobile and desktop integration. It’ll also mean AirPlay Mirroring for matching your computer screen wirelessly with your big TV – ideal for films and gaming. Check out the full list of features in our Mountain Lion Need to Know guide.
With a US price of $20 announced we’re expecting a £20 UK pricetag and a release before, or with, the inevitable iPhone 5 and 7in iPad launches in September.
