Assassin’s Creed III is set in the American Revolution
Ubisoft has released the official cover art for its next sneaky, stabby game – and this time America's independence is at stake

Not-so-stealthy Ubisoft has ruined its own big Assassin’s Creed III announcement (due next week, March 5th) with some juicy setting and main character spoilers.
It looks like the next Assassin will be doing his dirty work during the American Revolution, an existing rumour all but confirmed by details like the American flag with 13 stars on, blurred battle scenes and the unlucky British “redcoat” (below) in the official artwork.
So Desmond’s heading back to relive the memories of a patriotic American ancestor – which should give players used to dashing across the roofs of medieval European cities a new challenge or two. But what gear will he have around to help his finish his job?
Like any American soldier, the Assassin looks pretty comfortable with a Native American tomahawk – just as much as his regular rifle. A few details like these is all it takes to get us excited to see what else Ubisoft has up its sleeve for the (probable) Xbox 360, PS3 and PC October release of Assassin’s Creed III. Look out for more details soon on Stuff.tv.
