Since cropping up at CeBIT earlier this year, the Eee PC Seashell netbook has caused quite a buzz in the world of tech. Now it’s gone official with a price and date we can expect it in the UK – and there’s not long to wait.

After cropping up for pre-order last week in a number of online stores, Asus has now gone official with its Eee PC Seashell 1008A netbook, giving us Brits both a price and a date we’ll be able to get our hands on it.

The super-slim netbook is going to be hitting our shelves in just 9 days, on 15 May, and will come with a rather reasonable £379 price tag.

When you compare that with a certain slimline Apple laptop, that’s pretty attractive – and the specs don’t disappoint either.

It packs the netbook favourites of a 10-inch screen, Intel Atom N280 processor and 160GB hard drive, and promises a six hour battery life.

As for connectivity, you’ll get Wi-Fi and Bluetooth thrown in as well, and all in a rather stylish shell measuring up at less than 1-inch at its thickest point.

Let us know below if you’ll be parting with your hard-earned cash for this skinny beauty, and be sure to check out our netbook buying guide before you do.
