Fanfare time: Asus has ripped the wrappings off a pair of new EeePC netbooks – and each boasts a marathon battery life of 13.5 hours. In a world of countless similarly-specced netbooks, that certainly grabs your attention.

The Asus EeePC 1015P and EeePC 1015PE appear to share the same specs, the only difference between these 10.1in netbooks being cosmetic (and being Seashell models, those cosmetics are rather lovely).

It’s a pretty standard loadout for each model, with Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB of memory, N-standard Wi-Fi and a choice of 160GB, 250GB and 320GB hard disk drive.

But it’s that six-cell battery that’ll really get mobile-minded users salivating into their lattes. If it lasts the 13.5 hours Asus claims, that means you can whack an EeePC 1015P or PE in your bag and expect all-day web surfing, emailing and other basic stuff without having to hunt down a power point.

There’s no word on pricing or a launch date just yet.
