Asus Zenbook UX31A and UX21A Ultrabooks with Ivy Bridge incoming
Asus' line of Ultrabooks sound like they're being readied for an Ivy Bridge refresh
Word from The Verge is that Asus is about to refresh its line of stunning and uber-thin Ultrabooks in a big way, to coincide with the availability of Intel’s new Ivy Bridge chipset. They’ve even managed to get their hands on the full spec sheets.
The Ultrabooks in question are the 13.3in Zenbook UX31A and 11.6in UX21A – to replace the Zenbook UX31 and UX21, respectively.
Both models will rock a matte display – with the higher specced model showing off a full HD 1920 x 1080 screen resolution on an IPS display (available for both models).
Various configuration options are available – ranging from Core i3 to Core i7 – as well as a choice between 2GB or 4GB of 1600MHz DDR3L RAM, Intel’s HD Graphics 4000 and a SATA III SSD of up to 256GB.
On the port side, you’re looking at an SDXC card reader, two USB 3.0 ports and micro HDMI-ouput. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 are on hand for your connectivity needs, as well as Intel’s Wireless Display (WiDi) media streaming tech. A backlit keyboard will also take care of those late night working sessions.
It is thought battery life will make it to the six or seven hour mark on the UX31A and five hours on its lesser specced sibling, the UX21A.
Cosmetically, not a lot is expected to change, with Asus’s refreshed Ultrabooks expected to look just as drop-dead gorgeous as before.
There’s no official word on the Asus Ultrabook update, but with Intel’s new breed of processors expected to put in an official appearance in June, we hope it won’t be too long before Asus pipes up to give us the full low-down.
