Canon EOS 650D unveiled
The 18MP DSLR is the ideal beginners camera and, as the first EOS with a dual AF system, detailed shots should be better than ever
The Canon EOS 650D has been unveiled as the first EOS DSLR to feature a dual AF system. That might not make much sense to the beginners this snapper is aimed at, but put simply it means better detail in photos and continuous autofocus for videos. That level of simple translation continues in the camera, with vast technically detailed manual options for the pro, but clear auto settings laid out on the 3in LCD touch-screen for the beginner.
The DSLR uses an 18MP APS-C Hybrid CMOS sensor meaning you can capture super clear images at up to five frames per second. And with an ISO range extending to 25,600 even low light situations won’t stop you shooting – talent granted – great photos. Plus the continuous autofocus dual AF system means 1080p video can be recorded while constantly tracking the subject.
The EOS 650D is out on June 15th and will cost £700 for the body only or £800 with an EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II lens. Or you could wait until July for the camera with an 18-135mm version of the lens for £1020. And if you buy it before August 31st they’ll chuck in a free 300EG camera bag.
