Nikon Coolpix AW100 is rough and ready
But you'll have to find Nikon's first rugged camera first
Nikon injecting some rough and tumble spirit into its Coolpix range with its first adventurer-cam, the Coolpix AW100. Available in not just camouflage but orange and black too, the AW100 rocks some serious scramble-proof tech. The compact is shockproof to heights of 1.5m, freezeproof down to temperatures of -10℃ and waterproof to 10m – so you can take underwater shots when you’re snorkelling or snap away on the slopes when you’re skiing.
Built-in GPS, electronic compass and world map means the all-weather compact shouldn’t let you down when you’re out in the wild. Image-wise, there’s a 16MP sensor on board, with a panorama mode for 180 and 360 degree photos and it also shoots Full HD 1080p movies. On sale on 8 September, the AW100 will cost £330. Nikon – one, great outdoors – nil.
