Sony DEV-3 and DEV-5 3D digital binoculars incoming
Look like a secret agent while capturing HD and 3D footage of birds, trains, planes and all that spotter stuff
Sony’s DEV-3 and DEV-5 – are they binoculars or are they cameras? They’re not only both, but they’re also the highest zoom capacity HD and 3D cameras in the world. Both boast 10x optical and – using digital zoom – up to 30x 2D magnification.
Peeping Toms have even more to celebrate as the dual G Lenses capture images for each eye meaning double the viewing. It also means – combined with SteadyShot – the picture is shudder free and clear when delivered to each electronic viewfinder, which can be manually focused just like an analogue pair of binoculars.
For the bird watchers and train spotters the US$2000 (£1250) DEV-5 model offers GPS geotagging so you can remember where that rare finch was spotted. The DEV-3 will cost US$1,400 (£850) and both are due out November.
