Sony unveils the 24.3MP NEX-7
The Japanese tech giant brings its A-game to the digicam arena
It’s easy to get lost amongst the slew of interchangeable lens cameras announced by Sony today, but the NEX-7 is the fair maiden that has wooed our snap-happy hearts. Alluringly clad in a light-yet-strong magnesium alloy body, it’s the first mirrorless camera that manages to pack in an impressive 24.3MP APS-C sensor.
Other notable features include the same OLED viewfinder that is included with the recently announced Alpha A77 and a record-breaking shutter release lag of just 0.02 seconds. Full HD video recording, a redesigned interface and an auto-locking hot shoe finish off the already impressive spec list.
Available from November 2011, this beautiful snapper will be available for US$1200 (body only). No word on pricing on this side of the pond as of yet, but we’ll keep our eyes open as always.
