Comcast Xfinity, MLB.tv and HBO Go land on the Xbox 360
The Xbox 360 gets another hefty dose of video apps, as more than half the time spent on Xbox Live is devoted to media streaming
Microsoft has announced that a trio of new video streaming apps – HBO Go, Major League Baseball TV and Comcast Xfinity – will be launching on the Xbox 360 with full Kinect integration.
These latest offerings join the ranks of BBC iPlayer, ESPN, Hulu, Netflix and YouTube – and although not all are available in the UK, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that apps like HBO Go will make their way over the pond for some meaty Game of Thrones goodness in future.
With an ever-increasing list of media streaming apps for the Xbox 360, it’s not surprising to hear that more than 50 per cent of the time spent on Xbox Live is devoted to media streaming rather than actual gaming.
Although Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox 720 console will not be making an appearance at this year’s E3, with an ever-growing list of video apps, it’s a safe bet to say that the Xbox 720 will be as much an home entertainment hub as a games console. Your move, Sony.
