So long Omni, the HP Envy 23 and Pavilion 23 are the new Ivy Bridge All-in-Ones
HP has refreshed its desktop PC lines – again – with these big-on-spec additions to its home computer brigade
Omni, Touchsmart, Envy, (TouchPad) – HP just can’t make up its mind what to call new computers and laptops. This time round, it’s plumped for Envy and Pavilion monikers for these new 23in desktop all-in-one models but who knows what the next lot will be called.
In the meantime, these new HP PCs look like worthy contenders for a spot on our desk: both are available with Intel Ivy Bridge processors (the Pavilion up to Core i5) and sport respectable, though not eye-popping, 1080p (non touchscreen) displays.
The Envy 23’s design looks pretty sexy (in keeping with the laptop series) with edge-to-edge glass and Beats Audio thrown in for good measure. So it’s not all work for the HP user – there’s also the option to pay for HDMI-in, a Blu-ray drive and a TV tuner on board so it could easily be the only screen you need in your bedroom for instance.
The Pavilion 23 has the same 1920 x 1080 screen as the Envy and also comes with up to 2TB of hard drive storage – but there’s a plastic stand to keep the price down compared to the Envy 23’s ‘floating’ looks and there’s no option to pay extra for a touchscreen.
We’ll have UK pricing and availability when it comes in and hopefully we’ll be taking a touchscreen Envy running Windows 8 for a spin before long.
