Creative Sound BlasterAxx SBX gets its stream on

With a name that's more than a bit of a mouthful, we're hoping Creative's BlasterAxx will be an earful as well

This is the Creative Sound BlasterAxx SBX. Yes, it’s a mouthful of a name, but Creative (once a champ of the MP3 scene) hopes its hexagonal tower will give us an earful as well.

Creative says the Sound BlasterAxx SBX 20, the biggest of a three-part range, uses a stacked stereo design to fill the room with powerful, clear sound and can be synced via Bluetooth with mobiles, tablets PCs and Macs. It also claims the dual-microphone array means you can pair it with your phone or tablet to chat with “CrystalVoice” clarity from anywhere in the room.

We’re not sure we need a fancy speakerphone in the living room, but when we do we’ll be sure to take a closer look at Creative’s plug-and-play hexagon before shelling out the requisite £180 for the SBX 20. There’s also a smaller SBX 10 (£130) and a non-Bluetooth SBX 6 (£80) for those who prefer their sonics to come bite-sized.
