What is it?

It’s a pair of headphones, clearly – priced at £29.99 rather than the usual £99.99. If you’re looking for more detail, it’s a pair of portable, over-the-ear headphones designed to deliver “Solid Bass” performance.

What does it do?

It puts nice noises in your lugholes, that’s what it does! Plug it into your phone, laptop, tablet or other audio source and it’ll supply sweet sounds. It’s really as simple as that.

Is it any good?

Audio-Technica is a highly respected headphone brand, and while the ATH-WS77 isn’t among its marquee products, it’s a very capable set of cans. There’s an emphasis on bass response here, as with a lot of modern headphones, so if your tastes run towards the sort of stuff that benefits from a bulky bottom end, these are going to suit you well.

Anything wrong with it?

Its performance is bass-heavy, as we say, and that may not be to everyone’s sonic tastes – some prefer their audio performance a little more natural, with more balance across the low, mid and high ranges.

They aren’t, perhaps, the most comfortable cans ever made either, being a tad bulky – something to consider for longer listening sessions. And while they’re foldable, there’s no carry case included in the box.

Is this really a good deal?

Undoubtedly – Amazon UK charges over £135 for the ATH-WS77, so for £30 they’re an absolute steal. The cheapest we can find them elsewhere is around £65 on eBay and Gadgets Boutique UK, so it seems Richer Sounds has managed to beat everyone else by a wide margin.
