This dual-battery smartphone will last for four days on a single charge

Remember the good old days when you’d send a few T9 texts, smash your high score on snake, make a few phone calls on a daily basis and still not have to reach for the charger for the next few days?

Those times are long gone now, as modern smartphones – with their power-sucking screens, powerful processors and complicated apps and games – struggle to make it more than a day with moderate to heavy use.

Portable battery packs are now common items in bags, and smartphone range anxiety is well and truly ingrained on our nights out.

While the LG G4 remains the only 2015 flagship with a removable battery for instantly topping up on the go, there is a new contender on the block for the coveted title of Ultimate Long-Lasting Smartphone – an award which we definitely didn’t just make up on the spot.

The Lollipop-powered Gionne M5 packs in two 3000mAh batteries, giving an incredible combined capacity of 6000mAh, which is said to give around four days on a single charge.

You can also charge one battery separately while using the other, providing you with a perpetual cycle of power. Sadly though, the handset’s other specs aren’t as impressive.

Its 5.5in 720p display definitely won’t be the sharpest one you’ll cast your eyes on, and its quad-core 1.3GHz processor and 2GB of RAM pale in comparison to today’s flagships.

8MP and 5MP cameras grace the rear and front-facing cameras respectively, and there’s a microSD slot for media hoarders too. There’s no price or release date information as of yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
