Dyson’s Zone air purifying headphones are available from 17 May

Dyson Zone is coming - better late than never

Dyson Zone announcement

At the tail end of last year Dyson announced its Dyson Zone air purifying headphones would be available in January-March and while the date has certainly slipped somewhat, the unique device will go on sale from 17 May from Dyson direct as well as selected Dyson demo stores.

The price of the entry-level model is $949/£749 with the Prussian Blue + Bright Copper model (called the Absolute+) clocking in at $999/£829. This latter model basically has more spares as well as a trendy binocular–style travel case and flight adapters.

The headphones will be on sale in the US, UK, Ireland, Hong Kong and Singapore. We got to check out the Dyson Zone back in March 2022 and we said at the time they were the “wildest gadget we’d ever tried” though we can confirm that numerous improvements have been made since our initial trial including improvements to the noise cancellation.

In case you don’t know how the Zone works, there’s a motor in each ear cup that draws in air through replaceable filters. It then projects two streams of the newly purified air to your nose and mouth.

This air gets channelled around the visor, designed to stop the purified air being diluted by normal air. The visor sits a few centimetres away from your mouth, it isn’t designed to touch. The headphone part features full active noise cancellation which is on by default when the visor is attached. When it isn’t attached, you can use a transparency mode should you wish.
