Amazon testing delivery to car trunks

Live in Munich, Germany, own an Audi, and want your Amazon packages to be delivered straight to the trunk? That’s an oddly specific set of circumstances, but it makes you the perfect candidate for the company’s newest pilot delivery programme. DHL delivery drivers will indeed be able to drop Amazon packages to your Audi’s trunk, starting next month in Munich alone.

You’ll need to be parked somewhere publicly accessible, as well as be a member of Amazon Prime, plus other cars aren’t currently part of the programme. However, the retailer says it’d like to expand the offering to all Prime members’ cars in time, should the trial prove fruitful. It seems like an overly complicated way to get a package, but if you can’t be home for a package and don’t want it to come to your place of work, then maybe there’s a market for it.

New Spider-Man animated movie announced

The next live-action Spider-Man movie will see the wall-crawler absorbed into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (the same as The Avengers), finally, but Sony has much more up its sleeve. Overnight, the studio announced that it will release a new animated Spider-Man feature film that’s separate from the live-action projects. Better yet, Phil Miller and Chris Lord – the duo behind The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street – will contribute the story and produce the film, as well. The animated film is set to release on 20 July 2018, while the live-action flick will drop a year earlier on 28 July 2017. And rumour has it that we’ll see the new Spider-Man appear in next year’s Captain America: Civil War, as well.

Solartab gadget charger in production

Last spring, we wrote about the Solartab, a Kickstarter project aiming to produce a solar panel to charge tablets and smartphones. It was successfully funded, but the initial delivery target of July flew past without product. Luckily, after a second-gen redesign to work around production challenges, the Solartab is shipping.

If you’re slated to receive one as a Kickstarter backer, it should ship very soon. And if you missed the boat, you can pre-order one of a limited quantity of available first-run units for US$129 (about £85) for UK/EU residents. It’s listed as shipping this month, so within weeks you could have your hands on a tablet-sized solar panel for powering your portable devices.

Avengers trailer redone with Lego

In what’s becoming a recurring – and often, pretty awesome – trend, the most recent Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer has been redone in full using Lego bricks. Creator Toscano Bricks has a lot of experience in this arena, having done previous Marvel trailers up in Lego and even 50 Shades of Grey, but that doesn’t make this one any less impressive.
