Garmin-Asus nüvifone G60 to debut next week

"Six months is a long time," wailed Morrissey on The Smiths' Shoplifters Of The World Unite. Lucky for him, he wasn't waiting for the Garmin

The iPhone 3GS challenging sat-nav phone will launch in Taiwan this month and Garmin says the nüvifone G60 will be with us by the end of the year.

Back in the mists of time in…January 2008, the iPhone 3G was a mere whisper. Can the terminally delayed nüvifone G60 better the iPhone 3GS?

It has a similarly large 3.5in touchscreen and super sat nav smarts. But obviously lacks the App Store magic of Apple’s creation.

Garmin thinks the nüvifone G60’s focus on GPS will make it stand out. But Apple’s got that pesky TomTom deal and a Navigon app and Nokia is bringing satnav to more and more handsets.

Does the Garmin-Asus nüvifone G60 appeal to you? Or is it too little, too late from the GPS toting touchscreen phone?
