GTA V release date will be revealed “in a few months”

Will Grand Theft Auto V be out this year? We'll find out soon

Grand Theft Auto V is sure to be a game of the year contender when it comes out – but which year, that’s the question.

We should be finding out fairly soon – in response to questions from fans, a Rockstar rep revealed that details of GTA V’s release date will be revealed in a few months time.

“First of all, we’d like to again thank you and everyone out there for the amazing response to the debut Grand Theft Auto V trailer,” Rockstar’s statement reads. “We know that there are a ton of questions you all have about the game, including release date and lots else.”

“Right now, we are very hard at work on the game and are excited as well to show and tell you more as development progresses – expect that we’ll be talking much more about GTA V starting at some point in a few months time. Please hang tight until then and thank you all for your patience and support!”

There’s been feverish speculation over whether GTA V will be released in 2012, at the tail end of the current generation of games consoles – or whether it will be coming out next year, when next-gen consoles such as the Xbox 720 and Sony PS4 will likely be hitting the shelves.
