With Android plans still in the pipeline, HTC has turned its attention to beefing up their existing lineup of killer touchscreen mobiles. And the sharp new design of the HTC Touch Diamond 2 is sure to give iPhone haters yet another phone to turn to in 2009.

Rocking a 3.2in WVGA screen, the rejigged effort looks far slicker than before., but with plenty of the same features that made the original a winner. You’ll find HSDPA, GPS, Bluetooth, plus an FM radio to boot.

The camera has been given a tickle too, from a measly 3.2MP to a more robust 5MP. Surely now Apple will start to heed the call and give their camera a bit of a makeover.

The real story though is the screen, which now covers more of the mobile and offers 480×800, rather than the paltry by comparison 240×320 of the first version.

We’ll be giving the new Touch Diamond a once over this week at MWC, so stay tuned. And head over to the Future Stuff blog too to see all the official photos.
