Huawei looks set to beat Apple to the world’s first Force Touch smartphone
The Chinese smartphone giant will have an interesting IFA…
Veteran leaker @evleakshas has released new renders of a Huawei handset, with nothing but the acronym “HMS” as a caption.
Rather than standing for Her Majesty’s Ship (which seems rather unlikely), it’s more likely to refer to the Huawei Mate S, a handset that’s rumoured to land with a pressure-sensitive, Apple-like Force Touch display.
The reported 1080p 5.7in screen will apparently feature the ability to bring up extra options depending on how hard you press on it, in a similar way to the MacBook’s trackpad, or Apple Watch’s display.
Huawei’s teaser slogan for the event on 2 September in Berlin is “Touch. Made. Powerful”, which adds credibility to the rumours for obvious reasons, and if the rumours are true, the company will beat the iPhone 6s and its Force Touch display by a week.
Specs-wise, the Mate S is rumoured to pack in Huawei’s own Kirin 935 processor, along with 3GB of RAM, a 20MP camera and a rear fingerprint scanner.
Huawei is also expected to finally show off its Watch in all its glory at the Berlin event, where we’ll be covering all of the action live from the front lines. Bring it on.
