iPad 3 and Apple TV to get Sharp LCD displays?

Nothing to do with Sammy's scrap with Apple, of course

It looks like Sharp has won the big ol’ contract to make LCD displays for Apple, following a series of leaks on a likely Retina Display screen for the iPad 3. According to a Wall Street Journal source, Sharp will scale down the size of their – sometimes giant – displays for TVs to produce screens for the next iPhone, iPad and Apple’s TV project.

Even though Samsung is Apple’s biggest competitor, that hasn’t stopped the Korean giant from manufacturing screens and parts for iPhones and iPads in the past – so if the source is correct, we’re guessing Sharp just made a better offer. And now Apple seems to have stopped shopping around, we hope that the boys and girls from Cupertino get stuck in to making 2012’s most wanted gadgets.
