New Samsung YP – here in a flash

Everything we heard about Samsung's new YP-U3 (pictured) has turned out to be true, with the full spec list and Ogg-Vorbis capabilities all confirmed

Everything we heard about Samsung’s new YP-U3 (pictured) has turned out to be true, with the full spec list and Ogg-Vorbis capabilities all confirmed by the Korean maker this weekend. All good, we thought, but then out pop details of another flash-based Samsung – the as yet unconfirmed YP-E3.It brings an 11-hour battery life and Samsung’s DNSe surround sound enhancement technology to the table, borrowed from its big brother, the K3.It’s a tad shorter and plumper than the U3. In fact, there’s more than a little of the original Shuffle about it, albeit with a very welcome four-line colour display and a handy loop for a strap. No word on when it’ll be arriving, but things are starting to get a little crowded at the Shuffle end of the market with Creative’s new Stone making a splash. Room for a little one, we suppose.EssentialsSamsung YP-E3Price: £TBAOn sale: TBAContact: SamsungRelated stories:Samsung readies mini MP3 spinnerRevealed: Creative’s Stone cold Shuffle killerGadget of the Day – Metal Cases for iPod Shuffle
