Nokia launches Nokia Drive app on Lumia 800
Nokia's rival to Google Maps offers turn-by-turn navigation and downloadable maps
Nokia’s flagship Lumia 800 smartphone will arrive packing Nokia Drive among its glut of app goodies.
Nokia’s gunning for Android’s Google Maps with the free navigation app. Nokia Drive is powered by NAVTEQ, offers 2D or 3D views as well as voice-guided navigation for 69 million places.
Cleverly, you can also download maps to the phone – useful if you’re going abroad and want to avoid data roaming charges.
Between Nokia Drive and Android’s Google Maps services, TomTom and the other satnav manufacturers must be getting increasingly nervous.
