Samsung folding phone being developed?
Could dual-screen, hinged phones be the future for Sammy? Here's the first hint that clamshells might be revving up for a reboot
Samsung put a patent into the US Patent and Trademark Office back in 2011 for a dual-screen smartphone that closes on a hinge. At the time it wasn’t a big deal as the hinge was a manufacturing problem. But now an improved patent has just gone through suggesting Sammy hasn’t given up.
The dual-display mobile, much like the Sony Tablet P, can be used as two separate screens or combined for one larger display. Samsung reckons dual-screens will mean a better experience for TV, gaming and on demand services as well as texting, mobile banking and more. When we actually see something like this, especially with the hugely popular Galaxy S3 doing so well, is another matter.
