Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch e-reader is UK-bound
B&N's Kindle rival finally makes it to UK shores
Hot on the heels of its Nook HD tablet, Barnes & Noble is releasing the Nook Simple Touch e-reader in the UK.
The Nook Simple Touch and Nook Simple Touch GlowLight both sport a 6in E Ink touchscreen along with 1GB of storage for your books, while the GlowLight also packs a built-in light for reading in the dark.
Both weigh in at less than 200g, according to B&N, while the battery life is a claimed two months with Wi-Fi off, or one month with the GlowLight turned on.
The Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch is available to pre-order now from nook.co.uk, and will be on-sale from early October in John Lewis, Argos, Sainsbury’s, Dixons, Waitrose, Blackwell’s and Foyles stores.
The Nook Simple Touch costs £80 – £30 cheaper than the equivalent Amazon Kindle Touch – while the GlowLight variant comes in at £110. Amazon had better release the front-lit Kindle Paperwhite in the UK pretty sharpish, or the Nook could end up filling its niche.
