Razer’s 4K Stealth ultrabook won’t weigh you down

Core external graphics means it's good for gaming when you get home, too

It’s thin, light, and seriously powerful, but Razer’s Blade Stealth isn’t any ordinary ultrabook – it’s got gaming credentials too.

A graphics card inside your laptop would just weigh you down when you’re not gaming, so Razer didn’t bother. Instead, the Blade Stealth keeps its graphics on your desk, in the optional Core graphics box.

There’s room inside for a dual-width, full-length graphics card – which basically covers 90% of Nvidia and AMD’s current line-ups. With the right card, that’s more than enough power to play any game out right now. It’s overflowing with USBs, so you can leave a mouse and keyboard plugged in all the time. There’s even a couple of colour-changing LEDs, to add some bling to your desk. When it’s time to play, just hook up the laptop with a single Thunderbolt 3 cable.

The rest of the time, the Blade Stealth is a super-slim 12.5in laptop with a gorgeous screen and enough battery to get you through a day of work away from the mains. You get a QHD resolution screen as standard, but you can upgrade it to a ridiculously detailed 4K display if you need more pixels.

With Intel’s new Core i7 processor and 8GB of RAM it’ll fly through almost anything you can throw at it, and you can add up to 512GB of SSD storage. The multi-colour backlit keyboard won’t let you forget it’s a gaming laptop at heart, even when you’re on the move.

Without a graphics card inside, the Blade Stealth is great value too. It’s available for pre-order in the States right now for $999, with prices going up to $1,599 for the 4K model. It’s set to launch in February.

Gamers will have to wait a little longer for the Core though – it’s not set to launch until the summer, and there’s no word on a price.
