Samsung 75in ES9000 Smart TV launched with gesture-controlled Angry Birds
Think the ES8000 couldn't get any better? Sammy's latest flagship comes bearing new TV treats and an intimidating price tag
Samsung’s ES9000 has taken the gorgeous app-filled 3D ES8000 – our current No.1 TV and reviewed here – and super-sized it to a 75in display with a teeny 0.31in rose-gold coloured bezel.
Like the ES8000, the new flagship TV comes with a built-in camera for gesture controls and video calls plus web browsing and family-friendly apps. The ES9000 packs dual-core innards for speedy downloads and navigation plus with Samsung’s Smart Evolution kit you’ll be able to upgrade the insides in a year or two without replacing the whole set-up.
The ES9000’s picture quality should also match its predecessor – if not better it, since according to Samsung the 9000 has the highest contrast ratio for a Samsung Smart TV ever. If you fancy a 3D movie, it also comes with four pair of Samsung’s comfy 3D specs thrown in.
A free Angry Birds app was shown off in New York alongside the new TV – it uses the ES9000’s camera to let you play the game using Kinect-style gestures, and will be available on LED models from the 7500 and upwards.
The ES9000 is hitting the States in August for a not inexpensive US$10,000 (£6,360) but there are no details on a UK launch just yet. Fingers and toes crossed.
