The Samsung Gear S2 might actually play nice with your iPhone… one day
When two tribes go to war, they sometimes put down their spears and hug it out
Samsung’s latest smartwatch, the Gear S2, caused quite a stir during its official hands-on reveal at IFA.
The Tizen-powered timepiece’s minimalist circular design and innovative rotating bezel (an answer to Apple’s Digital Crown) tugged at our gadget hear strings when we got up close and personal with it in Berlin, and iPhone owners will be glad to hear that it could one day work with their fruit-emblazoned handsets.
Speaking to Digital Spy, a Samsung spokesperson stated that the company is “looking at possibilities to open [the Gear S2] up to iOS. Because we opened it up to Android, we are looking at this.”
Currently the Gear S2 supports Android devices that have at least 1.5GB of RAM, while running Android 4.4 or newer.
Sadly there’s no specific iOS compatibility time frame, so Apple fans could be in for a fairly long wait.
If only there was some form of Apple-made smartwatch for them to try out in the meantime. An Apple Watch, if you will…
