Samsung shows off Gear S2 smartwatch in preview video
You can expect a full-on unveiling in Berlin on 3rd September
Samsung often keeps its products secret (or at least attempts to) until their reveal, but that hasn’t been the case with its upcoming Gear S2 smartwatch.
First, it showed off a picture of the watch during its launch event for the Galaxy S6 Edge+. A day later, it dropped a full-on fashion lookbook of models wearing and using new products, including the Gear S2.
And today, the Korean firm released a video teaser that shows off some of the Gear S2’s software and UI, including the weather app, stopwatch, personal trainer, heart rate monitor and several different faces. One shot also reveals a Nike+ icon on the watch’s app selection screen.
The video ends by saying the watch is “coming soon”, then “Berlin 09.03.2015”, so we can definitely expect to see a full reveal at Samsung’s pre-IFA event on 3rd September.
That means we probably won’t know specs and other technical info until then, but from the looks of the UI it appears to be Tizen rather than Android Wear. Rumours suggest the screen will be a 320 x 320 display, and that the processor will run at 1.2GHz.
