Smaller Microsoft Surface 2 incoming?
Microsoft looks to take on the Google Nexus 7 and iPad Mini with a pint-sized Surface 2 tablet
Microsoft could unveil its next Surface tablet at its Build Developer Conference on June 26th-28th.
According to DigiTimes‘ sources in the supply chain, components for the new Surface tablet have already been shipped. In spite of Microsoft selling only 1.5 million Surface tablets – when it planned 3-4 million – it’s pressing on with enough parts for 1.5 million Intel-based Surface 2 tablets.
In a bid to compete with the likes of the Google Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and iPad Mini, the new Surface is reportedly set to come with a screen that’s between 7in and 9in.
There’s little else in the way of specs but we’d expect to see full Windows and Windows RT versions, larger storage options and a higher resolution screen. Of course, as with all rumours, take this chatter with a healthy dose of salt, for now.
