Snap-happy Oppo F1 is king of the selfies

Stylish mid-ranger puts camera tech first

If you just can’t get enough of your own reflection, Oppo’s got the smartphone for you. With a seriously high-spec front camera, the F1 wants to be king of the selfie.

The massive 8MP, f/2.0 aperture camera is like gold dust on a budget phone, and if the oversized 1/4in sensor can’t make you look stunning, the Beautify 3.0 image enhancing tech will.

The 13MP, f/2.2 aperture snapper on the back is no slouch either, with an LED flash and serious number of camera modes, including HDR, slow shutter and even RAW shooting.

At only 7.3mm thick, with a metal back and 2.5D Gorilla Glass front, it doesn’t look like a bargain basement phone either. The gold finish adds a touch of class, and there’s a free cover to keep it free from scratches too.

Inside, things aren’t exactly state of the art, but an octa-core, Snapdragon 616 and 3GB of RAM are more than enough to keep Android 5.1 and Oppo’s custom ColorOS UI ticking over smoothly.

It has to make do with a 720p resolution, but the 5in LCD screen is a decent size, and the 2,500mAh battery should keep you juiced through the whole day.

One of the two SIM cards doubles as a microSD card slot, to add up to 128GB of storage to the 16GB built-in. That’s enough space for a near infinite number of selfies.

It’s up for pre-order in the UK and across Europe today for £169/€229 from Amazon and the Oppo website, with €5 securing your phone for when they ship towards the end of February.
