Sony Ericsson releases Cyber-shot C510 and Walkman W508 phones

We’ve got used to Sony taking tech from one product and slotting it in another, and heck, it seems to work just fine. It’s just produced another pair of fine examples, taking tech from its camera and walkman products, and jimmying it into a couple of new phones.

First up is the new C510 Cyber-shot 3.2MP camera phone. Amongst other handy camera functions, it comes with Face Detection and Smile Shutter technology to take photos the second your subject smiles, so no more half-hearted Mona Lisa smirks.

The existing 8.1MP C905 handset is getting the upgrade treatment with the same applications at the C510. This means both phones will be YouTube enabled so your cringing vids will be up before your mate can say ‘Don’t put that on YouTube!’, and come with the option to send pics directly to HP’s Snapfish service for printing.

The second new handset is the clamshell W508 Walkman phone. For the style-conscious there are eight changeable Style-up covers to choose from.

All the latest Walkman features are there such as SenseMe gesture control for changing the volume and shuffling tracks, as well as the song-naming TrackID function. Like the C510, it too has HSDPA and a 3.2MP camera on board.
