We knew we could expect to see the Sony Ericsson X10 on the shelves at some point next month, but now an online retailer Play.com has pinned it down to an expected release date of 19 February.
The X10 will be Sony Ericsson’s first Android handset, and after the mishaps with the Satio and Aino, and the delays of the Xperia X2 seeing it dropped from Vodafone’s portfolio, it’s got a lot of pressure on it to be as good as it looks.
It’s currently listed for £499.99 SIM free, but will no doubt be offered from free on contract – although we’re waiting to hear what they will be.
Specwise you can expect the Android handset to pack a 4-inch display, 8 megapixel camera with flash, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, aGPS, 3G and Wifi, not to mention the “Rachael”, or UX, UI we all loved since we spied it in this leaked video.
It’s currently listed on Play.com as shipping with Android 1.6, which is a little disappointing. Here’s hoping a 2.0 update isn’t far off.
Of course, this is all just hearsay for now and until we hear from Sony Ericsson itself, we won’t know for sure when we’ll be getting it, or what Android version it will ship with.
We’ll be keeping our ears to the ground on this and let you know as soon as we hear anything. In the meantime, check out the official photos and videos and let us know what you think below.
