Sony Xperia C3: a phone designed specifically for selfies
A front camera equipped with LED flash and wide angle lens helps you embrace the narcissism
As rumoured, Sony today announced a brand new smartphone aimed squarely at the selfie generation.
It’s called the Sony Xperia C3 and its killer feature is a front-facing 5MP camera with a soft LED flash. Not only can it light up your mug for clearer, more flattering selfies, the camera captures more than most front-facers thanks to a wide angle lens (25mm, giving it an 80-degree field-of-view), and it can be triggered merely by tapping the back cover, which is a bit less fiddly than hitting a button on the screen.
It’s also geared towards selfies on the software front, with several apps on board like Portrait Retouch (pretty self-explanatory), Eye Beam (change the pattern of your eye reflection) and AR Effect (make yourself look like a pirate or clown by adding virtual costumes).
The Xperia C3 also has an 8MP main camera with Exmor RS sensor and SteadyShot image stabilisation, and on the spec front it boasts a 1.2GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and a 5.5in HD screen. It also feature dual SIM technology, allowing you to run two numbers from a single handset.
The phone will be available globally from August, starting with China. Pricing is yet to confirmed.
