Beside every great superhero is a great sidekick: Batman and Robin, Han Solo and Chewbacca, Dangermouse and Penfold. But now it’s your turn to play superhero, with T-Mobile and Motorola’s new Sidekick Slide.Gone is the quirky swivelling screen that made previous Sidekicks the choice of US celebs like Paris Hilton, replaced with a more traditional slider that reveals a full mini QWERTY keyboard. Some might mourn the loss of the feature that made the other Sidekicks head turners but maker Motorola does make up for it with an improved 320×240 QVGA screen and natty new black and purple paintjob. Shame there’s no room for more than a paltry 1.3MP camera.Function-wise it’s designed as a portable web warrior extraordinaire. Despite only a GPRS data connection, Push email is on-board, as is Yahoo! instant messaging and a fairly decent web browser, making it a tempting offer for Facebook freaks. One flew into the office this morning promising to serve us like every loyal sidekick should, so expect a hands-on video and review very soon.Essentials T-Mobile Sidekick Slide Price: £free with contract On sale: November Contact: T-Mobile Related stories: 3 prepping Skype mobile?
