Great news for sleepy geeks! It looks as if the awesome Taunaun sleeping back hoaxed by Thinkgeek.com on April Fools could soon be reality.

As features in our Top 10 Hoaxes for April Fools earlier in the year, the Tauntaun sleeping bag captured the imagination of Star Wars fans the world over and saw them lobby the company to put it into production.

The prototype bag featured an intestine-patterned inner lining, light saber zip and buckets of general awesomeness.

ThinkGeek’s PR manager, Shane Peterman has said that the company is “definitely trying to make it into an actual item to sell on site”, following tens of thousands of people requesting to buy it.

They’re already working with Lucas to finalise the design, and a release is aimed to co-incide with the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back.

Let’s hope they make it in a slightly larger size than the one pictured here.
