Taylor 1, Apple 0: Apple will pay musicians for free trial streaming after all
Taylor Swift's public calling-out of the company seems to have worked
Apple’s just publicly backed down from its policy to not pay artists during free trials of the new Apple Music streaming service. This was in the wake of the public criticism of said policy by pop megastar Taylor Swift, who in response to the policy said she would not allow the service to stream her latest album 1989.
In response Apple senior vice president Eddy Cue posted two tweets, confirming that Apple will pay artists for their work even when Apple Music users are on their three-month free trial.
