Transform your Apple Watch into Fallout’s Pip-Boy 3000 in one easy step

It’s not a real Pip-Boy, but it’s the closest most of us will get

With Fallout 4 less than a week away, our thoughts are starting to turn to all things cheerily post-apocalyptic: Nuka-Cola, plummy-accented butler robots, and Pip-Boy 3000s.

Yes, the iconic wrist-mounted computer is one of the things that makes Fallout, well, Fallout. And while quick-witted (and deep-pocketed) continental US-based fans could get their hands on a pretty amazing replica by pre-ordering the limited collector’s edition of Fallout 4, the rest of us are left bereft – at least officially.

There are, of course, other ways to get your hands on fairly convincing Pip-Boy 3000s. People are 3D printing them and selling them on Etsy, but if you already own an Apple Watch there’s a rather simpler solution – and it won’t cost you a penny.

OK, so it’s not a Pip-Boy per se, but Portland-based designer Neven Mrgan has made a beautiful Pip-Boy face for the Watch. It’s a static image, of course, but it also nails that Pip-Boy aesthetic. And it’s free to download here.

Fallout 4 is released next Tuesday, 10 November, on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Stay tuned for our full in-depth review, which is coming very soon.
