In the midst of any world financial meltdown two things can be relied upon to retain their value: gold bullion bars and, of course, high-end gaming PCs. While gold refineries are struggling to meet demand, HP has come to the rescue by finally launching its Blackbird 002 in the UK.

This black desk-breaker is unadulterated gaming porn, inside and out. Under the hood is an Intel Core 2 Quad processor, two 500MB ATI Radeon HD3870 Dual GPU graphics cards and 4GB RAM, although it’s also incredibly easy to customise – you don’t even need a screwdriver to change the innards.

The surprisingly tasteful styling, including cast-aluminium foot, also helps keep the insides cool, as does the liquid cooling and ‘thermal chambers’. Unfortunately, it also helps bump the Blackbird’s price up to £3200. Look out for it in Harrods soon, and for a review on Stuff.tv even sooner.
