World, meet the Oppo R7 and R7 Plus
Oppo celebrates its tenth anniversary with the perfect pair of smartphone siblings
Greetings from Beijing – and boy, we’ve got news for you. Oppo has just introduced the latest phones in its R series family: the R7, and its bigger brother the R7 Plus.
Both phones are powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm octo-core processor and come with Oppo’s famous VOOC fast charging technology. That promises up to two hours of talk time after a mere five minutes of charging, just in case you forgot to hook your phone up to the wall socket the previous night.
The R7 is 5 inches of sleek metal and glass. Fronted with a 1080p AMOLED display, it weighs a barely-there 148g, making it an excellent candidate for one-handed use. The improved ColorOS 2.1 allows for fast camera launching to aid the capture candid moments on its 13MP rear snapper, and even faster autofocus thanks to its all new AF system. Beneath the hood, you get 3GB RAM for smooth operation and 16GB of internal memory. Need more space for storing photos? There’s a microSD slot that will support up to 128GB worth of external memory, so happy hoarding.
On the other hand, the 6in R7 Plus is more than a handful. It’s still manageable though, thanks to its ergonomic curves. It packs a bigger 4100 mAh battery to power its similarly-specced camera. There’s one difference between the two phones when it comes to their photography capabilities: the R7 Plus sports a dual flash for truer tones. Also, flip it over and you’ll find a fingerprint sensor to unlock your phone easily with one hand.
The R7 will be going for 2,499 CNY (£260) and will be available from mid-June, while the R7 Plus will cost you 2,999 CNY (£310) from mid-August. Both phones will come in Golden and Silver.
