Chillblast Fusion FX57 SLI Ultra review
The Coolermaster case looks great as do the graphics and the sound...faultless.
‘A hotrod boutique for PCs’ is how Chillblast describes itself. Its website is awash with shiny kit to power up your PC but its Fusion range of PCs is the carefully assembled pick of the bunch.
Chill out
The Chillblast Fusion FX57 SLI Ultra has been beautifully put together, and that care shows in both the wonderfully arranged internals and the performance.
The Coolermaster case is common (because it’s good) but inside you can see evidence of an engineer’s time and trouble. We don’t mean bits of skin on sharp corners, we mean neatly installed components and tidy cabling.
First up there’s the AMD Athlon 64 FX-57 processor and the Asus A8N-SLI Premium nForce4 chipset. Then there’s the graphics: 2x nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB.
Slush puppy
The kit itself is cutting edge but also has a 300GB storage drive along with speedy twin 74s for game data accessing. Suffice to say, the Chillblast is fast – it dealt effortlessly with every game we tried: Doom 3, Far Cry, Unreal Tournament et al.
Sound, as we’ve come to expect from Creative’s Audigy card, is faultless and easy to set up, and the whole Chillblast experience left us with a pleasant lingering taste in our mouths.
